Winans originally came to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1981 as a vocalist on Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker’s popular Christian show, The PTL Club. Together her older brother BeBe, they formed a duo during their period at PTL after receiving positive reactions to their version of the song “Up Where We Belong,” despite being members of the larger Winans family singing group.
Cece debuted as a solo artist in 1995 with the launch of the album, ‘Alone in His Presence’. She formed her own recording label, ‘PureSprings Gospel’, in 1999 with her husband as the co-founder. She sang “Don’t Cry for Me” and “Jesus Loves Me” at Houston’s funeral on February 18, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.
