Derek Muller pHD thesis
In this thesis, Muller illustrates that videos which are focused on conversation and actively address assumptions offer higher learning outcomes. Muller adopted a dialogue between a pupil and a teacher.
The purpose is to address common misconceptions while also modeling excellent study practices. In these videos, students exhibit their learning ability by expressing what is confusing them and double-checking that everything makes sense.

Derek Muller YouTube channel Veritasium
In January 2011, Muller launched the educational science channel Veritasium on YouTube, with the purpose of tackling counter-intuitive problems in science, typically through discussions with members of the public.
The movies range in style from expert interviews, such as one with 2011 Physics Nobel Laureate Brian Schmidt, to science experiments, dramatizations, songs, and public interviews to dispel scientific fallacies. The suffix -ium is shared by numerous elements and is derived from the Latin word for truth, Veritas.
Veritasium, a play on the famous word and a reference to chemical elements, is the result. The number “42.0” in its logo, which has been registered as a trademark since 2016, is reminiscent of a periodic table element. In July 2012, Muller launched his second YouTube channel, 2veritasium.
He makes editorial videos about filmmaking, behind-the-scenes footage, and user reactions to popular Veritasium videos on the new platform. In 2017, Muller started posting videos to his newest channel, Sciencium, which is dedicated to videos about recent and historical scientific discoveries.
