Robin Roberts is an American newscaster working as an anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America. She was the first woman of color and the very first openly LGBTQ+ woman to host the American television game show Jeopardy!. She has previously worked as a sportscaster at ESPN for 15 years from 1990 – to 2005.
In 2005, she joined Good Morning America as a co-anchor. Roberts was honored in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. Her treatment for the myelodysplastic syndrome was documented on the show, which won a Peabody Award in 2012.

Roberts started her career as a sports anchor and reporter for WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1983. She came to WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1984.
Roberts worked as a sports anchor and reporter for WSMV-TV in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1986. She worked as a sports anchor and reporter for WAGA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1988 until 1990.
While in Atlanta, she worked as a radio host for V-103. She began working as a sportscaster for ESPN in February 1990 and remained there until 2005. Roberts received the Walter Cronkite Award for Journalism Excellence in 2014. She was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame as a member of the 2016 class.
She also received the Radio Television Digital News Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Roberts co-anchored the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, an American television actress, on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.
