Ball started her career in radio in October 1997, when she co-hosted Radio 1 Breakfast on BBC Radio 1 alongside Kevin Greening although she is most recognized for her television work. Her hard-drinking, hard-partying lifestyle at the time contributed to the identification of the late-90s “ladette culture.” The BBC warned her twice for swearing on the radio.
Ball left BBC Radio 1 in March 2000 to start a family and a new phase in his life. Her last show was on March 10, 2000, and she was replaced by Sara Cox. In September 2007, she returned to BBC Radio and co-hosted a program with Sara Cox celebrating the 40th anniversary of BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2.
Ball took over as the regular replacement presenter for Ken Bruce’s weekly mid-morning show on BBC Radio 2 in 2009.
