From 2005 to 2010, Kotecha worked as a reporter in New York for Talking Movies and BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat. She held positions as a multimedia reporter for Radio 4’s PM programme and for the same network’s Today programme.
Kotecha reported from Helmand Province in Afghanistan’s conflict while embedded with US Marines in Garmsiron for two weeks in December 2009. She also covered the 2010 Haiti earthquake and the Syrian refugee crisis as well as the 2008 US presidential election and the Academy Awards on several occasions.
