What Disease Does Shannon Bream Have?
Shannon battled tremendous discomfort and had trouble sleeping until the day she found hope in treatment. She woke up in the middle of the night just before turning 40 because it seemed like someone was stabbing her eyes.
Despite the fact that Bream always had her eye drops with her, the excruciating eye pain frequently brought on migraine headaches and blurred vision. The doctor she was visiting couldn’t help her after she had been struggling for over two years. She recalled, “He told me he believed I was becoming too emotional.
Bream browsed the internet, read medical papers, and visited chat rooms to check whether anyone else had experienced her problems. She began to consider how pleasant it would be to fall asleep and not awaken.
Finally, she told her husband Sheldon Bream about her troubled feelings. After doing some research on the best eye physicians in Washington, D.C., she called Dr. Thomas Clinch, a cornea specialist, who just so happened to have a cancellation the next day.
He identified her condition as corneal map-dot fingerprint dystrophy worsening chronic erosion syndrome. Bream was pleased to receive a diagnosis but heartbroken to find there is no treatment.
She experimented with a variety of methods, including drops, saline solutions, and ointments. Even more, she began taking fish oil and tried using tear duct plugs.
In the end, Dr. Clinch performed laser surgery to treat Bream’s chronic dry eye and correct her vision so she no longer required to wear contacts as she prepared to debut her show Fox News at Night in the fall of 2017.
She can now travel, chase political candidates around the nation as Fox News’ top legal correspondent, work long hours, run, read books, and spend time with her yellow lab, Biscuit. She uses a humidifier and an eye mask as she sleeps, and in the morning she rubs her eyes and applies warm compresses.
