Albert received the George F. Peabody Award, broadcast journalism’s highest accolade, for his year-long, five-part investigation into the murder of a sailor in Iraq, which prompted the US military to revise the way it records the remains of every American service person killed across the world.
He is also a two-time National Headliner Award winner, including the Grand Award, a National Press Foundation and National Press Club honoree, and a winner of the Premack Award for Excellence in Public Affairs Reporting. He has also won six regional Edward R. Murrow awards, and 12 regional Emmys; and a recipient of the Michigan Bar Association’s Excellence in Legal Journalism and the Advancement of Justice award, among many other honors.
In 2017, he co-founded The Voyage Report, an online newsroom covering travel and transportation, alongside several other journalists.
