Lepay began calling games for the Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team in 1998. Following a short spell as sports director for Madison’s WTSO Radio, he joined WIBA in 1994, also covering Wisconsin Badgers football broadcasts.
The university officially employd him as part of a rights arrangement with Learfield Sports, a national college sports broadcasting firm. He serves as the host of the weekly Badger Sports Report, an all-sports Badger athletics show that airs on Fox Sports Wisconsin and statewide on local stations such as WISC-TV.
In January 2014, it was announced that he would take over as play-by-play announcer for Milwaukee Brewers television broadcasts on Fox Sports Wisconsin, succeeding Brian Anderson, who was handling national responsibilities for Turner Sports, including NBA playoff coverage on TNT and baseball coverage on TBS.
